ALTO Rail Access

Rail Access Solutions.

At Alto Access, we design and manufacture bespoke access equipment for businesses that need safe, practical and reliable ways to reach difficult working areas. When standard ladders, towers or off-the-shelf platforms are not suitable, our custom-designed access solutions are built around your site, your equipment and the tasks your teams need to carry out. From initial concept through to manufacture, we focus on improving safety, efficiency and ease of use.

Rail Maintenance Access

Rail maintenance often involves working around complex structures, uneven environments, and restricted spaces where standard access equipment may not provide the right level of safety or stability. Alto Access can design bespoke platforms, staging, steps, and maintenance access systems to suit specific rail applications, helping teams reach critical areas of trains, carriages, infrastructure, and depot equipment with confidence.

Designed specifically for you.

Our custom-designed rail access solutions can be tailored to suit the height, shape, and working requirements of each project. Whether access is needed for inspection, cleaning, repair, servicing, or component replacement, we can create equipment that supports safer working practices, whilst helping to reduce downtime, increase safety and improve maintenance efficiency.

01

Initial Assessment

Alto Access works closely with each customer to review the required access points, site conditions, frequency of use, safety requirements and any space or operational restrictions. This initial stage helps ensure the finished equipment is designed around the real working needs of the people who will use it.

02

Design Phase

Once the requirements have been established, the design stage begins. Our team develops a practical access solution that considers aspects such as platform size, stability, working height, user safety, ease of movement, and long-term durability. Where required, designs can be refined to suit specific vehicles, machinery, rail equipment, building layouts or maintenance procedures, ensuring the solution is fit for purpose before manufacture begins.

Manufacturing

After the design has been agreed upon, the equipment moves into manufacture. Using suitable materials and robust fabrication methods, the access equipment is produced to the approved specification, with attention given to strength, usability and finish. Features such as guardrails, steps, platforms, handrails, wheels, locking mechanisms or anti-slip surfaces can be incorporated as part of the build.

04

Completion

Once manufactured, the finished equipment is checked to ensure it meets the agreed design and performs as intended. Alto Access can then arrange delivery, installation or handover depending on the nature of the project. The result is a bespoke access solution that has been carefully planned, manufactured and completed to support safer, more efficient working from day one.

OPTIONS

Height-adjustable legs

Height-adjustable legs can be added to access units to provide a safer and more stable working platform on uneven ground. They allow the unit to be levelled quickly and accurately. Lifting jacks can also be fitted to access units to allow controlled height adjustment and accurate positioning if multiple working levels are required.

OPTIONS

A Range Of Sizes

Our access units are available in a range of lengths and heights to suit different working areas, equipment types and access requirements. Each unit can be specified to provide the right reach, platform size and working height for the task, helping create a safer and more practical access solution.

OPTIONS

Choice Of Platform Surfaces

Our units can be supplied with a choice of surface finishes to suit the working environment and application. Options include GRP, phenolic coated plywood, aluminium treadplate or aluminium plank.

OPTIONS

Fold-Out Stabilisers

Fold-out stabilisers can be fitted to access units to provide additional support and stability during use. They are easy to deploy when required and help create a wider, more secure base, making the unit safer and more practical for working at height.

Modular Access Units

As rolling stock becomes more varied and is re-purposed to extend service life, maintenance teams need safe, flexible access across multiple unit types. Based on the proven ALTO HD access tower range, our modular system delivers strength, stability and adaptability.

When configured along side wth rail-specific components, it provides compliant access to roofs, sides and doorways, offering a scalable alternative to costly bespoke structures.

Prefabricated Access Units

Alto's prefabricated access units provide a practical, ready-made solution for safe access in a wide range of working environments.

Designed and manufactured off-site, they can be supplied in standard or customised configurations to suit specific heights, lengths and applications, helping reduce installation time whilst providing a strong, reliable and professional access solution.
